Organisational Counselling Experience
I have over 22 years of experience of working as a counsellor within charity and NHS settings both as a counsellor, supervisor and counselling manager. I have experience of delivering short-term and long-term counselling to clients with a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety and depression. I have not specialised in any particular area, preferring to gain a broad experience of presenting issues, however as a gay man I have a particular interest in working with clients from LGBT communities. I am also highly experienced in delivering counselling to clients from corporate organisations as part of my EAP agency work working with a broad range of issues that also include supporting clients who are experiencing anxiety and depressions as a result of bullying and harassment within their workplace.
Private Practice Experience
For the first 15 years of my career I had a part-time private practice, delivering short-term and long-term counselling to clients from EAP agencies and longer term work to private clients. Then in 2015 I left my NHS post to develop a full time practice, delivering workplace counselling for a range of EAP agencies including BUPA, Health Assured, Workplace Options, AXA PPP Healthcare, Optima Health, CBTSkills and CIC. This also included working as a supervisor and having a small caseload of supervisees in training and post qualification. Throughout this time I have also developed my online experience delivering telephone, FaceTime, and Skype sessions to clients within the UK and abroad. During COVID-19 like many counsellors this is my sole way of working.
Supervisory Experience / Co-ordinator & Managerial Experience
Since qualifying as a supervisor in 2005 form the Minster Centre I have supervised counsellors, psychotherapists and counselling psychologists in both charity, NHS and Private Practice Settings. These include supervising Person Centred counsellors within Youth-Reach Greenwich, as the Counselling Co-ordinator for Mind in Tower Hamlets and Newham and more recently as the Counselling Manager for The City and East London Bereavement Service Barts Health NHS Trust. I became BACP Accredited and Registered as a Supervisor of Individuals and Groups in 2010. I successfully applied for BACP “Service Accreditation” for both Mind and CELBS NHS Trust.
